1.15 Plotting the Results
The Techsignal analysis results can be plotted in several ways. The Graphical screen display contains
analytical tools for plotting and forecasting future outcomes, or price levels when dealing with financial
instruments.
Cycle Plots (synthesis, individual, or both)
There are three ways in Techsignal to plot cycles: 1) as a synthesis; 2) individually; 3) or both individually
and as a synthesis (you see each individual cycle plus the result of all of these cycles synthesized). When
you plot cycles in a synthesis, Techsignal sums all selected cycles into a single plotted line.
When you plot your selected cycles individually, you can plot up to six single cycles in separate colored sine
wave displays (the basic pattern used by Techsignal for an individual cycle). We limit you to six cycles
because the cycles become impossible to distinguish if you plot much more. After six cycles, Techsignal
will automatically synthesize any cycles beyond six with those first six cycles you have already selected
individually, and then display a synthesized plot line along with the first six individual cycles you selected,
even though you selected individual as your choice for Cycle plot. In most cases you do not need to plot
more than 4 cycles anyway. The Cycle plot choice Both plots up to six individual cycles along with the
synthesis plot of all the cycles you selected.
Amount of Data Displayed on a Screen
Several icons on the left tool bar allow you to easily adjust the number of data points that are displayed on the
screen regardless of the amount of data you actually download. These icons deal with data showing at any given
time on the screen in front of you, the spacing between the plotted data points or bars themselves.
You can also decrease or increase the number of word/date labels seen at the bottom of the plot by changing the
Points between X axis labels default setting of 15 found in Graph Defaults, to say 35 or 10 or any number in that
range. You can also change the orientation of those labels to vertical, horizontal or slanted through right clicking
the plot screen and selecting Point Label Orientation. Auto is the default setting.
Data to Plot (Raw versus Transformed Data buttons)
By default the graph plots the raw untransformed data. This option is significant only for ROC economic
type data where data can seem to trend a long while without apparent variation in trend. These options will
allow you to see either the transformed or the untransformed data. Because of scaling, all but ROC type
data will look the same as the raw data.
Plot Style (Overlapping versus Non-overlapping Axes)
Overlapping axis data put the cycles and data on the same axis while non-overlapping puts the cycles on a
separate axis below the data. Technical studies always appear on a separate axis below the price data.
Select All Cycles or Unselect All Cycles Buttons
These buttons will pick all cycles for plotting or unselect all cycles for plotting. Often people will use the
Select All command button to pick all cycles and plot them, and then go through and individually remove
cycles that add little to the plot.
Clear Technicals
This button clears all technical studies from the display.

1.16 Price Projection Tools
There are three tools that help with Price Projections with financial data. We like to use these tools to
reinforce each other. Using them with cycles and other technical studies is very effective.
Price Projection Tool
The Price Projection tool is a proprietary Techsignal tool designed to project a future price based on price
velocity and historical price activity. It requires you to double left click on a high or a low price bar, and then
click on the Price Projection Icon on the right hand toolbar. This action then prompts you for a cycle length.
Typically your choice should be a number between 12 and 18. The bigger the number the bigger the
