file type you wish to export (Meta, bmp, png, or jpg; the txt option in the graphics package does not work
with Techsignal™).
The next icon returns you to the Main Menu Data Input screen, and does not save your work; save your
work before hitting this button.
The next icon allows you to save the cycle study as a *.cyc file in your C:\Program Files\FSCTS\Cyc folder.
This save will not save annotations made on the graph.
The next icon plots the Techsignal™ cycles and is identical to the Plot icon on the left; both perform the
same function.
The last icon adds a date to your graph. Once a date is added to a graph, it cannot be removed except by
the Clear Technicals button, which again removes all technical studies from the graph except the cycles.
Graph Plot
The Graph plot is the major feature of the Techsignal™ program and of this screen, and is the area where
the data, cycles and technical studies are displayed.
Maximize Graph.
Remember that there is an icon on the left hand toolbar that looks like a small magnifier. This icon makes
the picture of the graph as large as your full screen. When the graph is maximized, the right click dialog is
disabled.  You can return to the normal plot window by clicking the upper left corner of this screen, on the
blue frame, or by hitting the escape key.
Graph Defaults
Graph defaults for the various technical studies, date formats and cycle types are changed from the
graphical screen by selecting the Graph Defaults button.
Analysis Grid
The analysis grid is an area below the plot which contains a chart summary of the statistical and cyclical
analysis.
1.14 Analysis Grid
The Analysis Grid
When the Analysis is complete the results are loaded into the Analysis Grid area. There are eight columns
in the Grid counting the cycles first column labeled “choose.”  The “choose” column is where the user
selects the cycle(s) he wishes to display.  After you select one or more cycles and hit the Plot button,
Techsignal™ will plot the cycle or cycles below the price graph unless you selected Plot Style “overlapping”
in which case the cycle(s) are plotted on top of the price graph (overlapping), each cycle in a different color.
You also have choices in Cycle Plots to display the cycles as individual, synthesized, or both individual and
synthesized.
The next seven columns are the Cycle period, Bartels test, Amplitude, Phase, Amplitude adjustment, Phase
adjustment and Period adjustment.  The grid results are arranged by default using the Bartles score with the
best or more persistent and reliable cycles shown first (lowest Bartels number), and the successively lower
scoring cycles shown below (higher Bartels numbers).  You can sort on any of these eight columns by single
left clicking on the gray column header (toggles), with the bigger numbers arranged in order from the top or
bottom of the column.  You may need to use the scroll bar to the right to move everything into sight.
Bartels Test
The Bartels Test is the statistical heart of the Techsignal™ program.  Through years of analyzing many
varieties of data with many statistical tests, the Bartels test was determined to be the best overall gauge of a
cycle's performance.
